Jazz You Like It is managed by James who is a professional saxophone and woodwind player, composer and educator. James has played in many jazz bands, pop bands, west-end shows and function bands. He has toured the world and played at Ronnie Scott's several times.
James studied music at Oxford University, and after this he briefly became a management consultant! After two years he decided to re-think and go back to university to do a master's degree in Jazz Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. It was here that his musical career took off and he met some lifelong friends and top musicians that form Jazz You Like It now. Having been at the client end of booking a band he is aware of a customer’s need for professionalism and that this encompasses a lot more than a musician being able to play their instrument well. Reliability, punctuality, and looking good, as well as sounding good, are all crucial.
There are four different line-ups to suit all occasions and budgets:
Jazz You Like It Solo Piano or Sax
This is a new option introduced in response to our clients needs and the fact that money is tight! It is great as you can still have a live solo pianist or saxophonist at your event with the sound of a live quartet (piano, bass, drums) played on a high quality backing tracks and PA.
Jazz You Like It Duo (Saxophone and Piano or Guitar)
Ideal for smaller events such as a drinks reception, birthday or cocktail party and for clients who would like to add something special to their event but are running to a budget. A duo will add a sophisticated air to the proceedings and we recommend choosing saxophone with either piano or guitar.
Jazz You Like It Trio (Saxophone, Piano or Guitar and Double Bass)
This option adds a bass player and is suitable for a medium size event though it is still appropriate for a small intimate party. The addition of a bass does not increase the volume significantly but provides a fuller, richer sound. If it is intimacy and ambience you are looking for then the trio is the perfect option.
Jazz You Like It Quartet (Saxophone, Piano or Guitar, Drums and Double Bass)
The addition of a drummer really adds energy to the ensemble. Flexibility is key here as the group can entertain your guests and be the focal point of your party while also playing background music. This option is ideal for dancing and listening.
Jazz You Like It Quintet (Saxophone, Vocals, Piano or Guitar, Drums and Double Bass)
This outfit is usually for large events that require a band with a Vocalist player or a specific line-up of musicians. With the Vocals and Drums this is can be an explosive and entertaining ensemble suitable for dancing.
