Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

Playing at a large private venue in Chew Valley. This was a fairly large private event, I played solo piano in the afternoon during a drinks reception and over the meal in a large marquee. Then we played as our swing/jazz band in the evening. We were fully looked after and fed the whole day and had a lovely view of Chew Valley Lake.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Too many to mention but from classical composers mainly Chopin and Rachmaninov through to many jazz and chart inspirations.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I received classical lessons as a child, which I continued off and on over the years. In my teaching career, I played in school bands and shows, taught and accompanied students through both GCSE and A level Music and have also taught privately for 15 years. Additionally I have been playing in bands over the years and performing privately.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I've enjoyed all my events. I particularly enjoy playing for a wedding breakfast and watching all the wedding joy and celebrations.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Portable Stage Piano (Roland) Internal Speakers and also Amplifier. (Set up times 10/20 mins from arrival)
If using the venues piano, I need to arrive, check piano, sound check and get ready.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes if under cover. (In case of rain or needing shade) (Flat surface, access to electric)

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I am happy to learn new songs but depending on number or timescale this could add an increase to the cost.
Selecting from the set list or allowing me to choose to set the mood, keeps your cost lower.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Jane was fantastic and made our wedding day so magical. Her piano playing was beautiful and she tailored her repertoire to match what we wanted. So talented - Thank you Jane you were magnificent!

Can you perform something like

Yes of course, but please inform me of this.

Can you perform for longer if needed/or adapt ?

Yes I am happy to be flexible to make your event run smooth, the odd few minutes are absolutely ok. If you require additional hours . (For example if another performer or dJ has issues) Happy to support but I may need to charge for additional time.

I have particular timing concerns?

Please feel free to discuss and chat about any issues. The more information I have the better I can perform around any timings or issues.
