Mains Power; covered if outside; I have experience working both large stages and with fitting into a tiny soloists' space - just let me know so I know what gear to bring :-)
If you are providing PA system and sound engineer, I just need 3 audio inputs: one vocal mic 'XLR' input (with phantom power, please) and two jacks from my Ammoon guitar rig's stereo effects. My Boomerang rig has two XLR DI outputs for my guitar/looping pedalboard (plus the mic XLR of course).
I have a PA system suitable for 20 to 200+ capacity rooms, and my monitor can be used as my main speaker in very small spaces, if required.
I bring basic stage lighting suitable for lighting up my performance as standard.
It would be great to know where is right place to load in my equipment, and I'd be grateful to know of any special directions that will help me find the venue - though sat nav usually works, more or less ;-) Thanks!
I can offer a background music between sets, run from my ipod, not from spotify/online. My PA speakers are also bluetooth compatible so I can run music easily from the client's device.
Having played well into four figures of gigs, I have no idea about my best one as such, but I'll never forget singing in the Royal Albert Hall with my rock band in 2005!
People tell me I sound a lot like Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Jon Anderson, even Geddy Lee, so Genesis, Yes and Rush were great influences, but also Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds, Tim Buckley, Neil Young, John Martyn, Nick Drake, Gong, Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Zappa, Vai and Ozric Tentacles have all influenced me. Who's my favourite? Crumbs! Today, it's George Harrison - see next question.
The question is: what is the greatest song of all time?!
Ok, that is a difficult one. Jimmy Herring's version of Within You and Without You makes Harrison's song a contender for sure!
Some times I joke that I'm really a bass player who became a singer/guitarist. From an early age I would mimic sounds and sing, then took lessons with piano and violin, later moving on independently to bass guitar, guitar, harmonica, and eventually relearning the piano, then double bass, flutes and percussion. I started gigging as a Rock/Blues singing bassist in 1989 at university, and while I temp'd, practised and saved up for a car and vital equipment, became a sort of modern-day troubadour, eventually went full-time with music in 2006 and now find myself having served up Folk-Blues and acoustic Prog at venues throughout the UK and beyond for nearly 20 years as a professional musician.
As well as building a Rock/Pop/Blues/Jazz repertoire of over 300 songs, I've moved deeper into Blues, Rock and grooves and mastered both new instruments and new music technology, including live looping, as also seen in my Pink Floyd and Psych Rock Nights. Thanks for reading my story!
What's my favourite type of event? Of course, everyone answers 'weddings' to this question, but unique and special events can occur at any time of course. Give me a receptive audience and we'll see what we can play :-)
I normally perform two sets of about an hour each, but will do two or three 45's if you prefer.
I usually aim to arrive at least 1 hour before show time, or 1 and a half hours if using the Boomerang Rig.
Set up time after load-in:
Ammoon Rig: 30 minutes
Boomerang Rig: 60 minutes
I'm happy to play outside but ask for cover/shade, a dry and flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.
I regularly field requests at gigs and I'm happy to perform songs from my repertoire, preferably agreed in advance, I can supply links to view this online.
People have have described me as an acrobat of the guitar, with a unique, complex acoustic guitar style reminiscent of Andalusian guitar as well as modern rock, and with the powerful voice of an angel and a mean harmonica style to boot.
