About / Biography

Hello there! I am a classically trained singer from Ireland. I grew up singing in many choirs all over Dublin, including being one of the first girls chosen to sing in the previously all male choir of Christchurch Cathedral. I studied singing under Dr Veronica Dunne in The Leinster School of Music and went on to sing solo with the RTE Concert Orchestra in The National Concert Hall, in Dublin Castle and recently in Cadogan Hall, London with the Mozart Symphony orchestra to name a few occasions. I regularly tour the UK and internationally as a freelance vocalist. My vocal training has ensured I can sing most genres of music, but I love to sing Irish folk and religious/spiritual music. I understand that at sensitive occasions such as weddings and funerals, people don't always want an operatic voice, they often want something that sounds more angelic, innocent and pure. Something more Irish. This is how I love to sing.

I was notably chosen to be the lead singer in Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance and toured the USA and Canada with the show. Currently, I live in Sidcup and serve many members of the Irish Community in London and the home counties at funeral and wedding masses. I am very familiar with Catholic hymns and masses and am often asked to sing modern songs, Irish folk and Gaelic songs. I am proud to say I have sang at many funeral masses for the Irish Travelling community in England too.

I am happy to learn songs that are special to you with notice. I can guide you through the musical aspect of the Mass and help you to choose songs if you need help.

Ingrid Nic Aoidh xx

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

Michael Flatley's Lord of the Dance was probably the biggest gig I have done. However I have performed all over the world to huge audiences in different roles. Last year I performed at Matala Beach Festival in Crete in front of 20'000 people.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

My favourite song is Oh Holy Night. I used to sing this at Christmas in Whitefriar Street Church, Dublin when I was in the children's choir and I still feel it is one of the most beautiful songs I know. I have many favourite artists. I couldn't choose one.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I have been told that I have always sang since I was a toddler, but I began my singing career in Dublin when I was about 7. I took part in a local show and the next year won first prize in an all Dublin talent competition. After this my parents sent me to performing arts classes and from there I have gone on to sing all over the world.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I love to sing wherever I am, but Irish songs are very close to my heart.

What genres do you sing.

I have been trained to be able to sing most genres. I love singing Irish folk music and spiritual music which has a positive message.

Performance Info

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I love when clients request specific songs. It makes the performance all that more special. If I don't already know the song, I am happy to learn it for you if I have enough time before the event. If you are unsure about what songs you would like, please don't hesitate to ask. I can always recommend some beautiful songs for you.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Most clients say that my singing helped them get through the emotions of the Mass.
