This 5 piece band is completely live. Supported by our great road crew, we use cutting-edge technology and sound equipment, ensuring that every note and beat resonates with crystal clarity. Prepare to be blown away by the talent and impeccable sound that will envelop your event.
Hailing from Newark, Nottingham, Melton Mowbray and Ashby de la Zouch, Free Spirit was formed in 2023 by three former members of popular East Midlands party band, THE BUSINESS, with the addition of the super talented Rob Stephens (bass) and rhythm maestro Jon Riley (drums & percussion).
The band specialises in parties, weddings and festivals. No two events are the same, and we understand that. That's why we create bespoke set lists tailored specifically to suit your preferences and the ambiance you desire. From the moment we start playing, we guarantee an infectious party vibe that will keep the crowd singing along and the dance floor packed from start to finish. We aim to produce an evening that surpasses all expectations.

Minimum Performance Space 5 metres by 3 metres however the bigger the better.
Ideally power supplies should be within 5 metres of the stage area. Minimum electrical requirement is at least four 13 amp standard UK three pin outlets. Generators can be used but must be capable of supplying up to 6KW for the band.
Free Spirit may use strobe lighting, smoke and pyrotechnic effects during the performance but will endeavour to seek permission from the client and the owners of the venue before using such effects and to discuss suitability.
Yes we are completely self contained. We will bring out own PA system scaled to meet the size of the venue and the same for a lighting rig.
The full address of the venue and any special directional notifications out of the ordinary to find the venue. Where we can unload our equipment and where to park thereafter. We will need to know if the venue use a sound limiter.
Yes we offer to play Spotify music for all clients at no extra charge and will provide such music at times designated by the client. You can choose the music yourself and provide a Spotify library or we can do this for you.
As individual musicians we have all performed at some very prestigious venues and events in our pasts. As Free Spirit it is hard to choose a best venue or gig as they have all been good party events. We always have people on their feet. Once people are on their feet this feeds the band and the event adds to our memorable experiences. It's not so much the "best gig or venue" we remember it's the people who made the event special.
This is too diverse across the members of the band to list here. The one common area that we would all agree on is we love any music, song or band that would get people up on their feet and dancing.
We are all very experienced musicians and we all have a long and diverse history in music and performing from touring rock/funk bands, cabaret, pop and signed artists, radio airplay and support to well known artists. We all started in our youth and have continued ever since.
Any event, weddings, corporate, birthdays, wedding anniversaries, charity, festival, parties, where people want to dance.
We normally need around two hours to get equipment into the venue, set up and sound checked.
Performance times can range to suit the client from 30 minutes to two hours, or more if required.
Yes and we have performed many gigs outside. All we ask is that we have a safe dry covered area for our equipment on a flat surface with available power.
Clients tend to look at our repertoire on our web site, look at videos of our performance, decide that they like it and book us based on that. However we do and we are more than happy to learn specific songs for clients before an event but we would need to limit this to a maximum of three and we would need a couple of weeks to learn and rehearse them with the band before the event.
Clients are always welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire.
"Loved it" is a common response. We're often told how professional we are and how we are able to help even the hardest of audiences get up and dance. Take a look at our web site for some comments from people.
