About / Biography

Des has spent half his life on the Fylde coast, half in Manchester. His solo show features tunes from Elvis to Ezra. Classic singalongs to dance floor bangers. Bob Marley to Blame It On The Boogie. He can deliver a tune straight up or put a fresh twist on it. You want a live reggae remix, old skool jazz version or you want it All About The Bass, just ask. Fully live vocals, guitar, stompbox and bassline. You'll find your head nodding, fingers clicking...before you know it you're singing and dancing along. He's played everywhere from the Rocket Festival in Spain to Kendal Calling, bars to clubs, intimate parties to big stages. Virtually every tune has been a request along the way so be sure to let him know if there's something you'd like to hear. Good vibes a plenty at every show.

What are your basic technical requirements?

Ideally a 4m x 2m minimum performance although we can fit in most areas. 1 or 2 parking spots. A power socket.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Self contained with top quality PA system.

What information do you require about a venue?

Venue name, postcode, performance location and a contact name if there's someone coordinating things from the venue. A heads up if there's a loading entrance would be great. Any other info you feel we need to know always appreciated too.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can set the scene with a playlist/Spotify before and between sets to keep things flowing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

I've performed at various festivals including the Rocket Festival in Spain but also love the amazing connection and vibe you can create at a more intimate event, I've really enjoyed performing at celebrations where you see memorable moments being created right in front of you.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

My influences are wide from early rock n roll singers to the Beatles and other sixties legends, soul singers like Otis and Wilson Pickett, Bob Marley, The Clash, some 80s legends, the 90s indie stars like Pulp and Oasis moving through to George Ezra, Emili Sande not to mention the catchiness of Megan Trainor. Songs from all these great artist feature in my sets. Faves at the moment include Need You Now by Lady A, Hold Back The River by James Bay and Blame it On The Boogie. I love seeing a crowd enjoying the music.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started playing in high school entertaining friends then other pupils at dinner time concerts. Youth clubs led to other gigs, then all sorts of venues from bars and clubs to festivals, weddings and celebrations all over the UK and beyond. I've learned a really wide range of tunes over this time to be really confident I can entertain a crowd for you. I love what I do and do my absolute best to spread that to an audience, nothing beats seeing folks having a great time.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We love playing all sorts of events. The best thing is parties and celebrations where people are interacting either with me/us or with each other. Whether that's singing along, cheering, intently listening, dancing or just having a great chat and catch up with friends and family, I love it!

Can I offer a strolling performance?

Yes, I can play a totally footloose performance solo, duo or trio. If you'd like me to be able to roam around your guests that is absolutely possible and great fun!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I'd normally arrive between 30 and 60 mins before a performance to set up for a solo or duo show. Depending on the type of event, I can play different performance times. Most frequent is 2 x 45mins although sometimes 3 x 30 mins works well. I've played a single straight hour plenty of times. Happy to play up to a straight 2 hours if its backing music. I've also played 3 x 45min slots or 4 x 30 mins. Happy to discuss best fit for your event and any corresponding fee differences. I'm also happy to juggle things a little if that works better on the day, as long as we can keep to the finish time agreed.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Happy to perform outside if the weather is good or there's some cover. A power supply close to the performance area is needed if you want it at a fairly high volume. I have battery PA options available by arrangement and we can also stroll and play, again by arrangement.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I'm happy for clients to select any number of songs from our full song list or I can read the room/audience for them on the day. With a little notice, I can learn a tune or two if there's a special song. If time is tight or it's more than a few tunes, there'd be an extra cost but I'm more than happy to discuss. It may even be one I've missed adding to the songlist!

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous clients and bookers have described my performances as fab, captivating, talented, entertaining and professional. They've been surprised by the wide range of tunes I hold in my head with no music or tablets to prompt me. I play in many different settings so have been described as everything from chilled to upbeat, I do my utmost to deliver exactly what your event deserves.
