Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

I am completely self sufficient as I have a full set of the latest top-end equipment including - Bose twin-tower PA system suitable for small or large venues up to 300 guests - Chauvet lighting system with spot lights for stage and integrated lighting bar for dance floor complete with rotating and accent spots, parcans, wash lights, derbys, laser as required - Professional curved stage backdrop or smaller pop-up backdrop as required. All I require is two power-sockets.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I am completely self-sufficient and bring my own top-end twin-tower Bose PA system which is state-of-the-art and suitable for all venues. I provide Chauvet spotlights for the immediate stage area and can provide additional Chauvet lighting for the dancefloor if required.

What information do you require about a venue?

I need the name and address of the venue, which room within the venue and the floor it is on, whether there is a stage and/or a dancefloor, and the right place to park and load in my equipment. I need to know whether or not the ceiling height directly above the performance area is at least 2.3 metres so I can use my usual speaker towers. I also need to know if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

I provide a selection of quality pre-recorded music which I play between sets to maintain the atmosphere and energy levels. I don't allow clients to connect their own i-pods to our PA system as experience shows that relying on this can often cause problems on the night. Although I don't offer a curated DJ service, I am happy to work with a separate DJ if booked directly by the client.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

I have sung at weddings, dinner dances and parties at fantastic venues all across Scotland including beautiful castles, historic houses, top-end hotels and amazing private houses. I sing regularly at golf clubs, sports clubs, social clubs and hotel lounges. I have sung at festivals up on big stages and in some very atmospheric settings like on the back of an 18-wheeler trailer at a truckers rally! I just love the sheer variety and making people happy and getting them singing and dancing!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I have so many musical influences and favourite artists across the decades - all the country greats like Johnny Cash, Billie Jo Spears, Willy Nelson, Dolly Parton, Glen Campbell, John Fogerty, Merle Haggard, Patsy Cline - 70s bands like Status Quo and Bay City Rollers - 80s bands like Bronski Beat, Pet Shop Boys, Annie Lennox, The Police, Deacon Blue - Elton John and other rock stars - Current Scottish female artists like Amy Macdonald and K.T. Tunstall

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I have always loved singing and started singing professionally 5 years ago. I have now performed at nearly 100 gigs all across Scotland.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

Weddings
Wedding Anniversaries and Birthday Parties - 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s
Hotel Lounge Evenings
Evening Parties at Golf Clubs, Sports Clubs and Social Clubs
Country Festivals

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

My typical performance times are 3 x 40 minute sets across a 3-hour performance slot - or 2 x 50 minute sets across a 2 hour performance slot - but I am flexible and can extend these if required although within the limits of what is vocally possible. I am happy to perform on weekdays and weekends, either during the daytime or evening.
I need access for 2 hours for set-up before the performance start time and then 1 hour for take-down after the performance finish time.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, I am happy to perform outside or in a marquee etc as long as there is a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area. There we need to be a back-up location indoors nearby to perform in the event there is bad weather on the day.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I always take full account of client's preferences (likes and dislikes) when putting together their setlist - mood (upbeat, romantic, background), music genres (pop, rock, country, rock&roll, folk, traditional, etc), decades (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, modern), artists, etc. I am happy for clients to pick specific songs from my repertoire and will include these where possible will making sure the setlist as a whole flows well and works for the wider mix of expected guests.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous clients have often said that I have a superb voice and an amazing range of great songs and how many brilliant comments they have had from their guests and that I made their event really special - also, how easy it was to deal with me before and during the event and how much I went out of my way to deliver exactly what they wanted.
