Dan Charles is a dynamic musician, songwriter, and producer with vast experience performing nationally and internationally with a fast-growing global fan base.
Dan has played music from a young age, having grown up in a musical environment playing with and learning from experienced session players and professional musicians alike.
At the tender age of 16, Dan auditioned for the highly regarded music institute ‘BIMM’ (Brighton Institute of Modern Music) where he was auditioned by Kenwin House, guitarist and songwriter for Reef. He gained a place to study there for 2 years, and in that time he played in bands covering a variety of genres, also writing songs for projects. He was lucky enough to be taught by great guitarists such as Toby Pittman (Air Studios) and Guthrie Govan (Hans Zimmer and Steven Wilson), also attending master classes with top guitarists and songwriters Mark Knopfler, Tommy Emmanuel and Kelly Joe Phelps.
After leaving his studies Dan found himself without a band so started playing support slots and coffee house's around the midlands UK where he developed his craft as a solo performer building a strong following. During this time he met local musicians and formed three-piece band where they started playing festival slots, mini tours and headline shows. In 2015 DHT hit the studio for their self produced debut album 'Neil'. The album was released on UK/Indian digital record label 'Panda Records,' the album gained international press and coverage, being played on both indie and major media platform's. Due to the success of the album it saw Dan play a string of tours in both Asia and Europe playing national festivals and TV and Radio performances.
2016 saw Dan playing guitar on tour with Janet Robin who was Lindsey Buckingham's (Fleetwood Mac) guitarist. In 2017 Dan went back on his second tour to Asia in support of DHT's debut album 'Neil'. Dan has played Bass for UK X Factor group 'The Shures' and performances supporting of 70'S band 'Mud2/Slade' and John Coghlan, formally Status Quo drummer.
In 2020 DHT released the follow up to 'Neil' with the 'String EP' which saw a successful response gaining new coverage globally. The lead single 'Feels Like Thunder' was remixed by American musician 'Life at Super 8' with great success, The same year saw two EP's released with Taiwanese artist 'C Drop'. Alongside this Dan also has composed music for adverts, radio, and podcasts for projects around the world.
During this time Dan also started up his own online music tutoring services teaching Guitars, Piano, Ukulele and Songwriting Classes gaining students both domestically and internationally.
2021/22 saw Dan back on the road playing a string of solo shows around the UK and composing for new projects. Performing his biggest UK show yet playing at the 'Three Counties Ground Spring Fair' in the Malvern Hills to a 10,000 capacity audience. As well as an intensive performing schedule Dan is composing new music and continues his passion for teaching music.
