About / Biography

Charlie is a young and vibrant solo guitarist and vocalist. A graduate from Leeds College of Music, he is known for his intricate, colourful guitar playing and unique voice and song interpretations. He has experience playing in multiple Irish, blues and Jazz bands and as a solo artists has opened for such Folk legends as Virtuoso Martin Simpson and American Mandolinist Mike Compton.

Influenced by folk music from America and the British Isles, Charlie's repertoire spans from Irish Harp Ballads arranged for the guitar, to 50's swing standards such as 'All of Me'.

Certainly have a listen to the examples, if you're after peaceful Celtic guitar playing, bluesy repertoire acoustic songs or 60's classics by Bob Dylan and Simon and Garfunkel, this is your ticket.

Review -

"Charlie is an incredible talent. A truly gifted and intricate guitarist (reminiscent of Bryan Maclean, Nick Drake and John Martyn) and the most perfect of folk voices, he picks up on the blues, flamenco, and at time Elizabethan sounding techniques, adds a little Laurel Canyon sunshine, and with a gentle humour introduces contemporary themes, in a similar fashion to that of multi award winning folk singer Chris Wood. He closed his set with Irish folk song, The Auld Triangle, and it became clear where his early influences stem from. A true folk wizard in the making, here"
