Catrin graduated from the Royal College of Music, London in July 2016 with BMus Hons Degree and graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, London with MA Distinction with professors Karen Vaughan and Skaila Kanga. Originating from South Wales she is fluent in the Welsh language and won Outstanding Young Musician of the Valleys. In 2015 she went on to win the prestigious Nansi Richards Scholarship. Her previous teacher, Claire Jones is the Former Official Harpist to HRH Prince Charles. Catrin has been privileged to play for The Queen on her diamond jubilee tour and has played for HRH Prince Charles on several occasions. She has also played for the Duke of Edinburgh at
Windsor Castle.
Catrin has performed in many orchestras from a young age including the National Youth Orchestra of Wales and Wessex Youth Orchestra who won the Best Youth Orchestra in Britain leading to a performance at Birmingham Symphony Hall and The Royal Albert Hall. She played extensively with the Royal College of Music Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras, and also the Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra with conductors such as John Wilson, Sir Roger Norrington, Semyon Bychkov, James Newton Howard, Yan Pascal Tortelier and Martin Andre and has recorded in Abbey Road Studios. She is a member of the Woman of the World Orchestra who perform at the Royal Festival Hall conducted by Sue Perkins and introduced by Sandi Tovisg, along with Sister Sledge and Bonnie Langford. Additionally she performed with acclaimed composer and conductor
Sir Karl Jenkins at St Davids Hall Cardiff as well the Light of Music Orchestra, Orion orchestra, London international orchestra at Cadogan Hall. She is also a member of the London Welsh Harp Quartet which was aired on S4C on Boxing Day 2015 on the Welsh programme "Noson Llawen”. In February 2017 Catrin performed live on Manoto TV on their show ‘Stage’ with contestant Arash, which was aired to millions around the world, broadcasted from Wimbledon Studios (Iranian Xfactor).
Catrin has also performed at the Royal Albert Hall, National Gallery, the V&A museum, the Science Museum, the British Museum, the Houses of Parliament, Birmingham Symphony Hall, St James’ Church Piccadilly, Gloucester Cathedral, St David’s Cathedral, and the Berlin Konzerthaus. She has performed the Handel Harp Concerto, and the Boieldieu Harp Concerto with the Rhondda Symphony Orchestra and also with the Cygnes Orchestra of London. Catrin has a passion for musical theatre and as a member of the London Musical Theatre Orchestra she has performed more than 15 west end musicals including the Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, Chess, The Sound of Music, Jesus Christ Superstar, Candide, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Carousel, Sweeney Todd, Legally Blonde, Les Miserables and Ragtime.
She has recently performed in the LMTO’s first professional concert of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s State Fair at the Cadogan Hall alongside Wendi Peters (Coronation Street), Clive Carter (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Wicked), Richard Fleeshman (Legally Blonde The Musical), Emma Hatton (Elphaba in Wicked, We Will Rock You), Oliver Saville (Fiyero in Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Enjolras in The Les Miserables Film), Celinde Schoenmaker (Fantine in Les Miserables Christine in The Phantom of the Opera), and Anthony Wise. The second professional concert of The Christmas Carol in December 2016 ran at the Lyceum Theatre (home of the Lion King) and featured Robert Lindsay (My Family tv Show), Fred Anderson, Madalena Alberto (Evita, Les Miserables), Carrie Hope Fletcher (Les Miserables, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), Giovanna Fletcher (Wife of Tom Fletcher- Mc Fly, Author), and Hugh Maynard (Lion King, We Will Rock You, Miss Saigon, Sister Act). Both concerts received many 5* and 4* reviews. The most recent concert with the LMTO was at the London Palladium, performing the UK Premier of Honeymoon in Vegas conducted by the composer himself- Jason Robert Brown. The show featured Maxwell Caulfield, Samantha Barks, Arthur Darvill, Rosemary Ashe, Simon Lipkin and Nicolas Colicos.
Catrin also performed in Musicals such as Sunset Boulevard at the Bridewell Theatre, Sweeney Todd at Imperial College, A Chorus Line at the Greenwood theatre, The Infinite Bridge at RCM’s Britten Theatre, Ragtime at Bishopsgate Institute, Shakespeare's The Winters Tale with the company Moving Stories at the Minack Theatre, Cornwall, South Pacific at St. James’ church in Guernsey and Oklahoma at the Gordon Craig Theatre.
Catrin is currently a dep on the Phantom of the Opera in London’s west end (since 1st October 2018). As well as a passion for Musical theatre, Catrin has a passion for teaching. Catrin teaches privately on a weekly basis all around London to all ages and has worked as an Apprenticeship at Morley College for the Centre for Young Musicians. She is currently a Harp and Violin teacher at the A to G Music School in Sutton on Sundays, and harp teacher at the Kew Green Preparatory School in Kew Gardens.
Catrin is an Assistant Harp teacher at the Brecon Harp Course (2011 - 2017), and has performed along side Gwenan Gibbard, Harriet Earis, Katherine Thomas, and Hannah Stone. Catrin was also Assistant teacher on Claire Jones’ International Music School 2017/2018. Catrin has experience leading classes and rehearsals, doing group projects, leading workshops and teaching Trinity and ABRSM grade examinations. Her goal is to make the harp available to children at all schools in London, as it is a beautiful instrument which is not taught at many schools in England. Catrin also loves to teach the violin and inspires pupils to play in orchestras, ensembles, and many concerts.
