The sound of steel pans conjures up Caribbean sunshine and creates a carnival feel at a wedding, party or corporate event. It's an excellent way to create a happy-go-lucky atmosphere that really gets the party going. We work with steel bands based in London, Manchester, Bristol & Bath, Cardiff and Plymouth, Devon.
If you're looking for background music for up to 50 guests, a duo or trio of pans is sufficient. The performance can be completely acoustic, with no electric power required and can take place out-of-doors if the weather is good enough. Do be careful, however, to place the pans in the shade, as direct sunlight causes the pans to go out of tune! If no shade is available, a gazebo or parasol can be used. If budget is an issue, solo steel pan with backing tracks might fit the bill - however, it should be noted that electric power is required for this option. For events involving 100 - 200 people, we recommend a 4 or 5 piece band, while for summer fetes, carnivals and large public events, 10 or 12 piece bands are available.
Whether you hire a duo or a full 12 piece band, the performance will be instrumental and will include all the cheesy Caribbean favourites - such as "Yellow Bird" and "Island in the Sun" along with well-known West Indian calypso and Bob Marley reggae classics. Versions of classic pop and jazz standards will also be included, along with wedding favourites such as "Here Comes the Bride" or "Pachelbel's Canon" if required.
For the full-on Caribbean evening party dancing experience, London-based Caribbean Heatwave is available to give you the authentic SoCa (Soul + Calypso) experience with vocals and limbo dancing. The band can also include a Caribbean Disco into the small hours. Email for a bespoke quote!
