The group made its debut in 1991, giving a series of recitals during a cruise of the eastern Mediterranean. The trip, from Istanbul to Venice, included a chamber production of Mozart's Cosi fan tutte. The group has continued to travel ever since, giving performances in places as far afield as Berlin and the Republic of Yemen. In 1999 Bloomsbury visited Germany for a critically acclaimed sell out series of concerts in Cologne with one of the City’s best known A Capella groups ending with two performances at Cologne’s Philharmonie to packed houses.
The ensemble is based in London and performs there regularly at The Conway Hall and has also been invited to perform at a wide range of venues, giving recitals at The Dulwich Picture Gallery as part of its main concert series, in The Regency Town House as part of The Brighton Festival, in Cheltenham's Pitville Pump Room, in the Great Hall of St. Bartholomew's Hospital and in the City of London's Guildhall in addition to Music Clubs and other Festivals in the United Kingdom
The group has recorded has made a recording on compact disc with the Cheltenham Bach Choir under the direction of Brian Kay (founder member of the Kings’ Singers) which included a set of songs specially written for the two groups.
Based in Central London
No amplification needed.
Power source for our lights.
Chairs - 2- 6 depending on line-up.
Piano if booking the Sextet, and piano stool.
Dressing room would be useful, and somewhere for instrument cases/bags etc.
For a background-music-type gig, we would need to arrive about 45-60 minutes for setting up. If it is a formal performance (like a concert) we would prefer to have a run-through from 3-5pm for a 7.30pm performance. There would be no extra charge for this, but we would need access to the premises and some quiet in the room so we can hear ourselves.
Packing up takes 30-45mins depending on the line-up.
