Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Access to 2 x 13 amp power sockets & an area to store cases.
An area to get changed would be appreciated but not essential.
We need at least 1 parking space for the duo, 2 for the trio, ideally with good access to the performance area.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

We have our own PA system and can provide some basic mood lighting.

What information do you require about a venue?

We would appreciate a guide on where to park for easiest access to the performance area.
We shouldn't be affected by a sound limiter.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

We are happy to provide background pre-recorded music via a laptop through our PA whenever we are not performing.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

We have played so many amazing gigs all over Europe, but playing on home ground at the Royal Hall in Harrogate can't be beaten. It is one of the most stunning venues and has fabulous acoustics.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Norrey: My musical influences are very wide-ranging. I love old school big band jazz, I got into that as a teen via Harry Connick Jr and love exploring that world. Currently, I'm really inspired by the 8-Bit Big Band who are doing some fantastically inventive arrangements. As a singer-songwriter, I've always loved James Taylor and Paul Simon, Ben Folds, The Divine Comedy, Jellyfish and Stevie Wonder. Vocally, I listen to a lot of funk and soul & I particularly love a good disco diva.
My favourite band is Dirty Loops, an amazing swedish jazz/pop/fusion trio who are astounding live and do the most inspiring things with their arrangements.
My favourite song is Next To You by Dirty Loops, no matter how much I listen to it I still feel the same excitement as the very first time I heard it.

Grant: Bill Evans. Bill Evans. And anything by Bill Evans.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We started gigging together in a function band about 15 years ago. We got on well and discovered we shared a lot of influences. We began performing together as a duo 11 years ago, alongside the band, but now we perform as a duo full-time. We have performed at countless weddings, parties, corporate events and venues together.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We enjoy all different sorts of occasions, and that's the best bit about what we do, as every gig is a brilliant surprise. We do particularly love a Christmas song and have an enormous festive repertoire! We really enjoy playing our live musical bingo too, that's always a lot of fun.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Arrival: 1 hour for the duo and trio, 2 hours for the quartet
Setup/pack down: about half an hour each for the duo/trio after/before loading.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We would happily perform outside if it is dry and also not too windy. We have too much electrical equipment to perform in any damp conditions. We would ask for shade, a flat surface and an easily accessible power supply.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We are happy to learn a few specific songs for an event, if appropriate, given plenty of notice. We have a large setlist which clients are welcome to select favourites from or specify anything they particularly don't want.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous clients regularly tell us how many lovely comments they have received from their guests about the music.

Do you offer any interactive elements in your performance?

We do live musical quizzes and also live musical bingo, which are both great for team building, fund-raising events or as a fun party activity.

For Bingo, we play a short extract of a tune - perhaps the verse/bridge & chorus. We provide bingo cards for each specific round with song names on; as you recognise the song you stamp it off on your bingo card. First to get a line wins a prize. Once people recognise a song they can join in and sing-along.

Our rounds are: 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, Noughties, Singalong, Disco, Rock, Country, Movies, Musicals, Weather, Travel, Lingo Bingo (songs featuring foreign languages), Ba Ba Ba Bingo (songs without proper words), Disney, Royals, Names, Places, Numbers, Girls & Boys, Baby, Christmas...
We can tailor rounds to suit your event with notice. For a big birthday or anniversary we can play tunes from the year they were born/got married for example. Lots of fun and very memorable for all playing along.
