New Song Requests (not in repertoire): £40 Becky cannot take any requests for bookings less than 1 month away and she needs to check if they are suitable for her vocals, so please let us know what you would like. |
At 27 years old, Becky Shell is a fresh, unique and musically refined performer who has over 10 years of experience singing and playing for weddings and special events. She has also performed at venues and festivals all over the UK as a soloist and in a variety of musical projects. Her repertoire includes a stunningly diverse range of songs and genres.
Becky’s music has been described as “disarmingly fresh and life-affirming” by BBC 6 Music's Tom Robinson and "transcendental" by Songlines Music magazine. She accompanies herself with guitar (piano accompaniment available upon request; extra charges may apply) and is very happy to include violin and loop pedal in her sets (at no extra cost). Whether you are looking for beautiful, atmospheric background music or uplifting, sing-along classics, Becky’s music is sure to bring that extra something special to your event.
With roots in the classical world, Becky’s sound is a unique blend of soulful, jazz- and folk-inspired vocals, rhythmic yet delicate guitar/piano accompaniment, and violin improvisation inspired by traditional European music. All the covers she performs will be congruent with this distinctive style that she has cultivated.
Becky’s standard package includes 2 x 45-minute sets within a two to three-hour period - this includes one special request song that is not already in her repertoire*.
Any extra special requests will cost an additional £50 per song.
Becky can provide all PA and equipment that she needs to perform (Battery powered PA can be provided if needed for outdoor events).
*Please note Becky needs to check it's suitable for her voice

Can provide small high quality PA.
Sound yes, lighting no,
I need to be able to park and unload within reasonable distance from the venue as I have heavy equipment to carry. I also need to be able to plug into a socket somewhere near where I am expected to play.
I can play spotify playlists through my speaker set up between my sets.
I played with t l k at the Barbican in London in 2023 to a sold out show supporting Blanco White. There was 2000 people in the audience! I also played a wedding in Bali that year which was pretty epic.
Aurora, Bon Iver, Joni Mitchell, Radiohead, Ben Howard, Bjork, Caroline Polacheck, Sufjan Stevens...my favourite artist is probably Bjork. I don't know about the greatest song of all time....probably Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen let's be honest...
I started playing violin when I was 4 and have been in love with music ever since. I taught myself guitar at the age of 12 and began learning covers and putting them up on YouTube. I started busking too and that's how I started getting offered gigs. People would come and ask me to play in their bar or venue and sometimes couples would ask me to come and play at their wedding! So that's how that started.
I honestly love to play in so many different types of places and events. I find playing at weddings especially fulfilling. It feels very meaningful to be a part of one of the most important days in someone's life. The couples are always so lovely and treat me well.
Set up takes 20 mins
I typically perform an option of:
1 x 45 minutes (e.g. just during the ceremony)
2 x 45 minutes (e.g. just during drinks reception)
3 x 45 minutes (e.g. whilst guests arrive, ceremony and drinks reception)
Yes as long as the following is available:
A socket to plug my extension cord into
Shade or shelter from sun/rain/wind
Flat surface (not loose gravel!)
Clients are welcome to pick a set list from my extensive repertoire or let me choose the music for them. I offer to learn one special request included in my standard prices. Any more requests are £50 per song.
*I may refuse a request if it is unsuitable for my voice (e.g. a screamo punk song)
Previous clients would describe my music as perfect for a relaxed drinks reception, a poignant ceremony or an uplifting special event...
