Aluinn Ceilidh Barn are well established as one of the top Ceilidh Bands in the North of England. Currently in their 12th year, they are comprised of full-time, music-college trained musicians with a wealth of folk and ceilidh experience. Led by Scottish band leader and caller/percussionist Aly, they have played at literally hundreds of weddings, parties and corporate events where they have built up a reputation for a high level of musicianship, energetic playing, clear calling instructions and a good sense of fun! If you would like your event to be truly memorable, Aluinn Ceilidh Band can give you and your guests a unique experience that will last long in everyone's memory, from the youngest dancers to the oldest. No prior dancing experience required!
The full band (4-piece) costs £730 + travel and comprises percussion/caller, guitar, fiddle and accordion.
The small band (3-Piece) costs £580 + travel and comprises percussion/caller, guitar, fiddle or accordion.
The basic fee (as above) books the band to play 2 x 1hr sets of ceilidh music across a 4 1/2 hr timespan at the venue including 1hr of setup/sound check time. Additional hours may be booked at a rate of £80 per hr up until midnight and £80 per 30mins beyond midnight. All sound equipment is included in the basic fee. Public liability insurance and PAT test certificates can be forwarded on to your venue on request.
Disco lights (2 sets of 4 lights each on a mounted cross-bar) may be hired for a flat fee of £80. (Equivalent cost of identical lights in a light hire shop is £90)
Looking for some light but joyful background music for your wedding reception or party? Aluinn also go out as a piano/violin duo playing a delightful mix of classical, jazz & folk that will create the perfect atmosphere for your event. The duo are available for £350 + travel (£330 + no travel if booked in conjunction with either the 3 or 4-piece ceilidh band). The basic fee books the duo to play 3 x 30 min sets over a 3 1/2 hr timespan at the venue including 1 hr of setup/soundcheck time.

We provide all sound equipment and would rather use our own speakers, even if there is a DJ at the event (this is just to protect the quality of our sound; some DJ's have great speakers, some not-so-good!).
Please ensure that your venue know there is a Ceilidh occurring so that they can leave adequate floor space for dancing. Clip-together dance floors are not great for ceilidhs so it's best to ask the venue not to set one out (although we will work if one if necessary). We will do our best to make a ceilidh work in whichever space we are given (the number of dancers also has a bearing on it) however, the smallest feasible dance floor would be around 5m x 5m for a smallish crowd (up to 30 people).
We require a flat, solid surface to set up on with easy access to at least two power points. Our minimum 'stage' dimensions would be 4m across by 3m deep.
We require 1hr from arriving at a venue to load in, set up and sound check our equipment. Most of this hour is the loading in and setting up, with only the last 15 mins or so requiring us to make any noise. We are happy to sneak in quietly if wedding speeches are in progress when we arrive.
Our standard booking fee covers 2 x 1hr sets across a maximum timespan at the venue of 4 1/2 hrs (including 1hr setup/soundcheck time). Additional time beyond this can be booked for an extra £60 per hour up until midnight and at £60 per half hour beyond midnight. You are welcome to use our speakers to play your own playlist through at any point during the evening.
Since our formation in 2011, we have played at hundreds of venues across Yorkshire & the north of England for many weddings, corporate functions and private parties.
