Afro-Percussion and Samba Troupe are an exhilarating professional percussion and vocal troupe who provide both high-energy African and Brazilian drumming performances as well as beautiful rhythmical background music for festivals, gigs and events.

The band was founded in 2011, perfecting a diverse set of traditional music from countries ranging from Ghana to Guinea and Cuba to Brazil. Members of the band met while playing with Rhythms of the City samba troupe, before forming the Afro-Percussion and Samba Troupe to incorporate more forms of African and Brazilian music.

The group is made up of extremely talented and versatile musicians with a diverse range of musical abilities. The Afro-Percussion and Samba Troupe perform vibrant sweet sounding traditional music from Ghana, including ‘kpanlogo’ and ‘fume fume’; raw and powerful ‘maracatu’ music from northern Brazil; with party carnival vibes from Rio de Janeiro ‘samba’ music and the loud and exuberant Cuban ‘conga’ music – all of which is infused with rich vocal harmonies sung by every member of the band.
