Obviously, Halloween is a great time of year for a party! Without any of the stress of Christmas or New Year, Halloween presents a fantastic opportunity to organise some live music! From party bands to medieval musicians, the key to any successful Halloween party is to get creative and think outside of the box. Here are our top tips for a spook-tacular night!
Make a few requests - Most musicians will have their own set list configured for their performances, but if there is something specific you want to hear, make sure to let your band know in advance. That way you can make sure every guest attending your party is guaranteed to have their favourite ghostly tune!
Thankfully, party bands tend to be very accommodating when it comes to learning songs for an event and, if given enough time, are often able to learn up to three new songs. Using social media to ask guests which songs they would like to hear is a great way of determining which new songs a hired band should learn. Letting guests decide what they want to hear is a great way of ensuring Halloween party success and a full dance floor!

Ideal for those putting together a Halloween event on a budget, a themed karaoke night gives everyone the opportunity to sing along to their favourite songs at a relatively low cost. By hiring a DJ/mobile disco, a full sound system complete with lights, microphones, TV with sing-a-long lyrics and other accessories guests, can take control of the show and choose the songs (and perhaps perform renditions!) that will not only scare away evil spirits but also perhaps ensure that the original artists turn in their grave...
Attention party guests! On this hallowed night, the dead shall rise to rock the living! Whether it be John Lennon, Kurt Cobain, Elvis or Jim Morrison, a spooky tribute act to the deceased can be a great way to kick off the Halloween celebrations! If just one artist is too hard to choose, you could potentially hire a band to perform the hits of one or two different musicians.
If you want to take the theme a step further, why not encourage your guests to dress as their favourite deceased celebrity! They can always use the famous "27 Club" as a start for ideas!
Certainly a little different from your average entertainment, medieval musicians perform old English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish folk songs such as ‘Elizabethan Gems, ‘The Cult of the Virgin’ and ‘The Pied Piper’. About as authentic as they come, medieval musicians not only perform songs of battle fields, love and war on traditional instruments such as the lute, harp and pipes, but also dress the part. Suited well to a banquet environment that they are often booked for, an event could be themed towards dead Kings and Queens or Knights and damsels in distress.
Planning a Halloween party? Well (once you have your costume sorted, obviously!) how about including some spook-tacular live music? Just because Halloween is associated with death and the occult doesn't mean you can only book heavy metal bands (although, there are some fine ones out there to choose from!).
With a little imagination, village halls can be transformed into spooky venues – brilliant if you are on a budget and expecting your guests to be relatively local. Alternatively, if you are the proud owner of a bar or venue, Halloween presents an excellent opportunity for a (sometimes mid-week!) sales drive. Book a band, put on some spooky drinks offers and watch the place fill up!
House parties are also particularly popular for Halloween, but just because you have neighbours next door does not mean you have to forsake live music! Consider having an acoustic solo act to really maximise the wow factor for your guests. Expect to hear scary classics like thriller, zombie and the ghostbusters theme!
Top tip: I'm sure it goes without saying, but if you'd like to have your band dress accordingly, make sure you speak to them in advance.
