Maxine and Ian
Vintage Tea (previously Metaxia Music) is a jazz/blues duo comprising Maxine (vocals and ukulele) and Ian (keyboards), performing in the Surrey, West Sussex, Hampshire and surrounding areas. Our repertoire comprises jazz and blues standards, the core stemming from the 1920's and '30's. The set list perfectly blends 'feel good' tunes with emotionally charged ballads. Please note that we also have a Facebook page ("Vintage Tea Music") for the duo - but all relevant information can be found on this Last Minute Musicians site.
Maxine:
Maxine’s singing background has been wide and varied, ranging from singing pop songs in both bands and an acoustic duo, operettas, cabaret acts and choirs. She has now joined forces with keyboardist, Ian and formed Vintage Tea, focussing on building a set list of jazz and blues standards, her favourite musical styles. With vocals that evocatively recreate the spirit of early jazz and blues, Maxine can move between light, bright tones to capture the exuberant mood generated by standards such as Cole Porter’s Let’s do it, through to the warm, sultry tones needed to deliver moving renditions of classics such as How long has this been going on? and Dream a little Dream.
Ian:
Ian brings 50+ years experience in the music industry to Vintage Tea: instrumentally (and primarily) on keyboards, as well as vocally being an accomplished tenor, musical director, composer and rehearsal pianist with various music societies in Reigate and its surrounds. He has also played previously for cabaret acts: Quintessence, Serendipity and accompanied the talented soprano singing duo Wedding Belles on some of their many wedding bookings.
Vintage Tea at your function: Our songs can be performed according to the nature of the function - pared down to fit background music settings or a mix of slow, mid and fast tempos to cover after-dinner entertainment bookings.
Themed/Vintage functions: Vintage Tea’s set list is perfect for providing musical entertainment for 1920’s or '30’s themed events – and we can dress accordingly!!
Charities: Are you a charity looking for some entertainment for a fund raising event? Vintage Tea are proud to support charities by providing quality entertainment for a nominal fee. In recent times we have provided entertainment for fund raisers held by the Redhill Methodist church, supporting projects such as the rebuilding of a Sri Lankan village devastated in the Tsunami; the Live at Home project (providing help to enable elderly people to carry on living in their own homes); and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance. We have also provided the entertainment for the branch meeting of the East Surrey Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Songwriting: Would you like to pay a unique tribute to a special someone or to mark an occasion? Why not commission us to put your thoughts and feelings into the words of a song? Based on your specifications and approved by you, we can write, compose and perform your song at your function and/or provide a recorded copy as a lasting memory of your special day.

Based in Guildford, Surrey
Ain’t misbehavin’
All of me
Anything goes
After you’ve gone
Big spender
Blue moon
Bye bye blackbird
Bye bye blues
Can’t help lovin’ that man
Cry me a river
Don’t get around much any more
Don’t know why (Norah Jones)
Dream a little dream
Every time we say goodbye
Fever
Five foot two, eyes of blue
Fly me to the moon
Georgia on my mind
Get happy
The girl from Ipanema
Hard-hearted Hannah
How long has this been going on?
I don’t know why (I just do!)
I get a kick out of you
I got rhythm
I’m confessin’ that I love you
I’m gonna sit right down and write myself a letter
In the still of the night
I only have eyes for you
It had to be you
It’s only a paper moon
I’ve got you under my skin
The lady is a tramp
Let’s do it
Makin’ whoopee
Mean to me
Misty
My baby just cares for me
My heart belongs to Daddy
My heart stood still
Nice work if you can get it
Night and day
The one that I love (original by Maxine)
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps
A room with a view
Smoke gets in your eyes
Somebody loves me
Someone to watch over me
Stormy weather
Summertime
Sway
Sweet Georgia Brown
Sweet Pea
There’s a rainbow round my shoulder
They can’t take that away from me
Waitin’ for you (original by Maxine)
Who?
Why do I love you?
Yes sir, that’s my baby
You do something to me
You must have been a beautiful baby
You’re the cream in my coffee

We can provide one or two sets of 45-50 minutes. Setup is about 30-60 minutes dependant on facilities available (keyboard, PA system), and on whether we can set up during the event or need to wait for a suitable time.
