"I booked Susie and Steve for my wifes surprise 50th party with around 130 guests. They were brilliant! Performed 2 sets at the time we needed. Got people up and dancing (always difficult) and some guests even took there number to book agagin. Great people - GREAT NIGHT! Thanks BigSkies :-) "

"Black Velvet Band provided a five piece ceilidh band and caller for the finale of the Hawkins’ team building event. We thought the room would be too big – but we were wrong! The band brought an absolute gem of a caller, who read the crowd perfectly and the dance floor was full throughout the evening. We could have done with a larger space! The band was superb and the event was enjoyed by all concerned. I thoroughly recommend the band."

"Just a wee note to thank you for playing for us at our recent wedding, especially for arranging the music for our first dance, it meant so much to us and was the perfect way to start the evening. Everyone had such a great time and it was lovely to see the dance floor full from the first dance through to the end of the night. There is nothing like a ceilidh at a wedding to get friends, work colleagues and both sides of the new family up and mixing together for the whole evening. "

"If you’re looking for a band who can come onstage to a marquee full of people quietly chatting and drinking and within minutes turn them into full-scale dance Machine with everybody in the place laughing and enjoying themselves, Then I think The Blaggers might be the act for you. Guests at our event (held to raise funds to prevent the destruction of a greenbelt zone) ranged from 20s to 60s, But all were captivated by the humour professionalism and generally good time emanating from rom the band. I am a professional filmmaker and have shot an l lot of promo videos for bands, from Euorope (yep, “the final countdown”) to Paul Young to AC/DC, and The Blaggers have that same charismatic quality that you see in all these massively successful bands. For a 3 piece they also a pack a monster sound, and over the course of three sets in one evening they played not only the Gay Gordons and other traditional stuff but also sex and drugs and rock’n’ roll and people are strange by the doors – not something you hear from average ceilidh band. I would highly recommend them if you’re having any kind of function we want to get the whole crowd involved. Oh and did I mention they’re very nice guys as well?"

"I have booked Danny several times, he is an excellent guitarist and an exceptionally good vocalist as well as being a really good songsmith. He is always received really well by the audience at The Back Room, they are used to seeing top grade entertainment from acts from all over the U.S.A. and Canada. Danny is comfortable in the very best company. Anyone thinking about booking Danny should not hesitate at all. I don't."

"Each year our section hold a rally. Each year we visit a different location alternating between the UK and Europe. It was my turn to organise a weeks rally in the UK, and I chose the Two Bridges Hotel near Princetown as our base. We needed some form of entertainment for our Gala Night. Our group are in the in main middle fifties and some over eighty so the last thing we need was a rock group. I had some opposition when I suggested a Folk group but I prevailed and have to say that tracking down a band was in the area was extremely difficult. Typing a search in Google for local folk groups resulted in names almost everywhere except in the West Country. Eventually I contacted Blue Jewel and Steve convinced me that they could adapt to our needs. Every single person enjoyed the groups performance, there were 62 people there and almost every single one said how much they enjoyed the group. As the organiser I was greatly impressed by the way they accommodated our requirements and we had a brilliant night. Thank you Blue Jewel Chris. "Well handled and so well played! Thank you for the excellent music and reels last Friday - we have had several thank you letters already saying how much people enjoyed it and what a hoot it was even though they realised they could not do it at all!! For many it was their first try and I hope not their last. We were just pleased they were happy to give it a go. I was so grateful you had the tact to realise what was required and not be insulted or frustrated by the lack of ability to follow your commands!"
