"I must confess I hadn’t come across the Cutting Edge Big Band, but when it was suggested for a big event I was helping to plan in Oxford and I heard them at rehearsal, I knew we had made the perfect choice. The band duly appeared in the new Westgate Centre on Saturday, 11th November 2017 when we officially named Leiden Square and unveiled a mosaic reminding everyone that Oxford and Leiden (in Holland) had been twin cities since 1946. After the official opening ceremony by the Lord Mayor of Oxford and the Burgomaster of Leiden, Cutting Edge performed for the first hour of a three-hour programme of music and dancing. The square was packed with people throughout and many more enjoyed the entertainment from the balconies above. If we were to organise a similar event in future, Cutting Edge would be favourite to perform again. Thank you for the wonderful support you gave us on this memorable occasion. "

"It is hard to express how wonderful our evening was with The Cutting Edge Big Band. We held a Gatsby/1920s-themed dinner and dance for the University of Oxford Development & Alumni Engagement Office Christmas party at one of Oxford's many colleges and were lucky enough to have The Cutting Edge Big Band play for us after dinner. There really aren't enough superlatives to express how brilliant the band was and how much joy their performance brought to our evening. Their set list was perfect for the event, the vocalist(s) that joined them were out of this world and the energy and charisma of the band as a whole was fantastic. It was, by far, the highlight of the night for many and the performance added an extra layer of sparkle and glam to our event that made it go down in history as one of (if not THE) best Christmas party many of our department had ever attended - and some of my lovely colleagues have been with the University for over a decade! On top of the truly phenomenal music and atmosphere, their coordinator was a joy to work with: very clear and succinct regarding what they needed and incredibly willing to be as flexible as possible to ensure that they could play for us. On the night itself they were equally as flexible and even cut down their own break time when we ran late so that we didn't miss out on any music - not that I want to set any precedents for them, but it was quite extraordinary and truly appreciated given that the timekeeping issues were entirely of our own making. I would highly recommend them for any and all events and genuinely hope that I will have an excuse to work with them again one day in (the not-too-distant) future - or at the very least attend another performance in Oxford at some other lucky venue! Having them play for us was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. "

"Hi Chris, I talked with you after my party on the night. But I want to say again, how amazing, brilliant, fantastic you and your band are (sorry I can’t remember their names). The evening was a great success because of you, I don’t think I’ve been to a party where so many people have danced so much. The way you blended the 20s to 40s music was seamless, excellently done. I and all my guests throughly enjoyed the evening, I’ve heard nothing but brilliant comments about you all, we had a fantastic night, and I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. "Wow, for an amateur band these guys are remarkably accomplished/professional and with a great vocalist in Kim Osmond too! The event sold out so the band obviously already have a following and one can see why as our village hall was really swinging to 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones with a further 4 in the rhythm section (drums, keyboard, rhythm and bass guitars). Led by Chris Macklow the band played a mix of tunes so those who wanted to dance could and the music certainly prompted some great dancing throughout both sets. But those who just wanted to sit, drink, eat, listen were able to have a great evening too. The Cutting Edge Big Band: please return and perform again. Note to organisers - please re-book! "
